From Kitchen Kid to Functional Nutritionist: Why I’m Passionate About Helping People Heal

Looking back, the signs were there early.
In school, my favorite parts of the day were lunch, recess, home economics (especially the cooking days), and physical education. At the time, it just felt like fun. Now it makes perfect sense — food, movement, and feeling good in your body have always been at the center of who I am. No wonder I found myself in the health and fitness world.
I was also raised in a family of chiropractors, where natural healing, wellness, and the body’s ability to restore itself were simply part of everyday life. I grew up learning that symptoms weren’t just random inconveniences — they were messages. And if we gave the body the right support, it had an incredible capacity to heal.
That belief stayed with me and eventually led me to study Culinary Arts. Food has always been more than fuel to me. It’s connection. It’s culture. It’s memories around the table. It’s how we show love. But it’s also powerful information for the body — something that can either create stress or support healing.

The Health Crisis That Changed Everything

My passion for this work deepened when my health took an unexpected turn.
I went through what I now call my “health crisis.” I began experiencing debilitating migraine headaches. These weren’t just minor inconveniences — they were life-interrupting. I saw multiple doctors, made several ER trips, tried medications, and explored different treatments, but nothing seemed to provide lasting relief.
I felt frustrated, helpless, and honestly, discouraged. I was missing out on family gatherings, social events, and everyday moments because I never knew when the next migraine would hit.
Then I met a woman from my church who told me she might be able to help. She was a Functional Nutritionist.
That experience changed my life.
Through a personalized, root-cause approach, we addressed what was happening in my body from a nutrition and lifestyle perspective. Over time, my migraines resolved. But it didn’t stop there. I had more energy, clearer thinking, and felt better overall than I had in years. I didn’t just get my life back — I discovered what true health could feel like.

Becoming for Others What Someone Was for Me

That journey lit something in me. I knew I wanted to be for others what she was for me.
Today, as a Functional Nutritionist, I work with clients who feel stuck, frustrated, or unheard. Many of them have been told, “Just eat less and move more,” as if health were that simple. But real health is so much more nuanced than calories in and calories out.
Our bodies are not machines — they’re intelligent systems that need the right nutrients, support, and environment to function well. When we address root causes, support digestion, balance blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and truly nourish the body, incredible things can happen.
I get to walk alongside people as they learn how to fuel themselves in a way that supports energy, mood, metabolism, and long-term wellness — not just quick fixes.

Why This Work Means So Much to Me

My story is why I believe so deeply in a food-first, whole-body approach — and why I value high-quality supplements as part of that support. Nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted supplementation can work together to help fill gaps, support systems under stress, and give the body what it needs to do what it was designed to do.
I’ve lived the difference between feeling trapped in symptoms and feeling empowered in my health. That’s not something you forget.
Every client I work with is an opportunity to help someone feel more at home in their body — with more energy, fewer symptoms, and more freedom to enjoy their life.
And it all started with a kid who just really loved lunch, cooking class, and running around at recess. Turns out, that was the foundation for a life’s calling.
